I will work as I ought to work
In the vineyard from day to day;
I will pray as I ought to pray,
Ere the harvest has passed away.
Blessèd Lord, help me thus to do,
For my strength is in Thee alone;
Help me be what I ought to be,
All my life, evermore Thine own.
I will watch as I ought to watch,
Lest I enter the paths of sin;
I will say what I ought to say
Of the witness I have within.
I will give as I ought to give
Of my talents and earthly store;
I will live as I ought to live,
Till the journey of life is o’er.
I will trust as I ought to trust
In the blood flowing full and free;
I will do what I ought to do
For my Savior who died for me.
