Biography

Sims was the husband of Frances Shipp.

He was a sing­ing teach­er, com­pos­er, and pub­lish­er. He di­rect­ed sing­ing schools, usu­al­ly last­ing 10–20 days in the sum­mer, and led sing­ings as well.

Sims formed a Gos­pel mu­sic pub­lish­ing com­pa­ny with Ho­mer Mor­ris and with F. N. Brown of Bo­az, Ala­ba­ma, and put out a num­ber of song books.

Sims was su­per­in­ten­dent of the Mart­ling Me­tho­dist Sun­day School, was ac­tive in the Ep­worth League, and served on the coun­ty ju­ry com­mis­sion.
