Biography

After ordination, Reitz pastored at the First Baptist Church, Berlin, Wisconsin (1918–21); the Rosehill Baptist Church, Los Angeles, California; and the Fairview Heights Baptist Church, Inglewood, California (1926–52).

One of his acquaintances, Jack Clifford, tells this story:

He told me Jack, remember that God is able to sustain you in all times. He then went on to tell me (a young aspiring preacher) that he had preached a sermon on Sunday, buried his wife on Monday, and his daughter on Tuesday. It has always stuck with me.

He called himself an octogeranium.

Reitz wrote over 100 Gospel songs in his lifetime.
