Introduction

Born: Ju­ly 6, 1861, Ar­na­näs, Hjert­lan­da Par­ish, Jön­köp­ing, Swe­den.

Died: Au­gust 7, 1942, Bur­bank, Ca­li­for­nia. He died dur­ing a con­cert at the Co­ve­nant Church in Bur­bank, while play­ing the pi­ano and sing­ing Ho­ra­ti­us Bonar’s The Old Sto­ry, with mu­sic by Phi­lip Phil­lips.

Buried: Cy­press Lawn Me­mo­ri­al Park, Col­ma, Ca­li­for­nia.

Biography

Hultman’s fa­mi­ly emi­grat­ed to Am­er­ica in 1869, set­tling in Il­li­nois.

At age 16, he be­came a preach­er, and from 1906 on, worked as a Chris­tian sing­er in Swe­den and Amer­i­ca. He was called the Sun­shine sing­er. In all, he wrote mu­sic for some 500 hymns.
