Biography

Zelley mar­ried three times, to Ida Shreve, Cla­ra Dob­bins, and Mar­tha Gold­ing.

He at­tend­ed Penn­ing­ton Se­mi­na­ry, Penn­ing­ton, New Jer­sey, and Tay­lor Uni­ver­si­ty, Up­land, In­di­ana, where he earned his PhD and di­vi­ni­ty de­gree.

Ordained a Me­tho­dist min­is­ter, he worked in the New Jer­sey Con­fer­ence as a sta­tis­ti­cal sec­re­ta­ry and trea­sur­er.

He was al­so a trust­ee of Penn­ing­ton Se­mi­na­ry, and pro­mot­er of the camp meet­ing move­ment.

He re­tired in 1929.

Works

Zelley wrote ov­er 1,500 po­ems, hymns, and Gos­pel songs.
