Biography

Walter was the son of Eli D. Yoder and Sa­rah Hoo­ley, hus­band of Ma­til­da Mae Schertz (mar­ried No­vem­ber 1917, Il­li­nois), and cou­sin of El­sie By­ler-Burk­hard.

He was a mu­sic lead­er in the Men­non­ite church for ma­ny years, a pro­fess­or of mu­sic at Go­shen Col­lege, and co-ed­it­or of the re­vi­sion of the Men­non­ite hym­nal.

In 1920 and 1930, he and Ma­til­da were liv­ing in Taze­well Coun­ty, Il­li­nois.
