Vines’ song A Pray­er for Ev­en­tide was writ­ten in 1924, and pub­lished in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois, and Phi­la­del­phia, Penn­syl­van­ia, in 1925.

We spe­cu­late he may be Sea­born Nel­son Vines (1879–1967), who died in Al­ba­ny, New York, and is bur­ied in Syr­ac­use, New York.
