Biography

Peter mar­ried twice: to Ka­ren Ma­rie Mad­sine Chris­ten­sen (June 1884) and Oline Ol­sen (Au­gust 6, 1901).

He at­tend­ed high school in As­kov (1872–77), and la­ter studied un­der min­is­ter H. F. Fei­berg. He al­so taught at the Mis­sion­ary In­sti­tute in Co­pen­ha­gen.

He emi­grat­ed to Am­er­ica in 1879, and in­i­tial­ly lived in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois. By 1884, he was in Elk Horn, Io­wa, where he taught at the Da­nish High School. The next year, he was serv­ing as a pas­tor in Jack­son­ville, Io­wa.

He lat­er moved to West Den­mark, Wis­con­sin, where he taught at theo­lo­gic­al se­mi­na­ry un­til 1893. He went on to serve as pre­si­dent of Tri­ni­ty Se­mi­na­ry at Da­na Col­lege in Blair, Ne­bras­ka, and then as pre­si­dent of Da­na Col­lege, 1897–99.
