George was the son of Heinrich Trebel and Ottilia Doerner, and husband of Mary Foster.
He graduated from the Ohio Synod Theological Seminary, Columbus, Ohio, in 1857.
In 1873, he was living in Mansfield, Ohio, when he accepted a call to be pastor of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hamilton, Ohio. He served there until 1904.
