Biography

Francis was the on­ly son of Jo­seph Will­iam Thrupp; ne­phew of hymn writ­er Do­ro­thy Ann Thrupp and sculp­tor Fred­er­ick Thrupp; cou­sin of Vice-Ad­mir­al Ar­thur Thom­as Thrupp; and hus­band of Eliz­abeth Bligh Glen­nie, fourth daugh­ter of cler­ic John Da­vid Glen­nie (married 1853).

He was edu­cat­ed at Win­ches­ter Col­lege and Tri­ni­ty Col­lege, Cam­bridge, and was vi­car of Barr­ing­ton, near Cam­bridge.
