Biography

One of Smith’s most fa­mous com­po­si­tions was his 1864 ar­range­ment of the mu­sic for Wal­ter Kit­tredge’s Civ­il War bal­lad Tent­ing on the Old Camp­ground.

Smith’s song Fall­ing in­to Line was pub­lished in Cin­cin­na­ti, Ohio, in 1881.
