Biography

Shaw be­came a chor­ist­er at St. Paul’s Ca­thed­ral un­der George C. Martin. He was an or­gan schol­ar at Gon­ville and Cai­us Col­lege at Cam­bridge, stu­dy­ing there un­der Charles Stan­ford and Charles Wood.

He was lat­er an in­spect­or of mu­sic to the Lon­don schools and suc­ceed­ed his bro­ther Mar­tin as or­gan­ist at St. Ma­ry, Prim­rose Hill, in 1920.

He also con­duct­ed the League of Arts Choir, and chaired the schools’ mu­sic sub-com­mit­tee at the Brit­ish Broad­cast­ing Cor­po­ra­tion.
