Biography

Edward was the son of com­pos­er John Naylor.

He was edu­cat­ed at Em­ma­nu­el Col­lege, Cam­bridge (BA 1887, MusB & MA 1891, MusD 1897), and en­tered the Roy­al Col­lege of Mu­sic in 1888.

He served as or­gan­ist of St. Mi­chael’s Church, Ches­ter Square, Bel­gra­via, Lon­don (1889); St. Ma­ry’s, Kil­burn (1896–97); and Em­ma­nu­el Col­lege, Cam­bridge; and as as­sist­ant mas­ter at Leys School, Cam­bridge.
