Introduction

Biography

Johann was a son of Jo­hann Ja­kob Kö­nig, and hus­band of An­na Ma­ria Pfaff, a tailor’s daugh­ter.

He stu­died un­der Ge­org Phi­lipp Te­le­mann at the St. Ka­tha­rin­en­kir­che (St. Ca­ther­ine’s Church) in Frank­furt am Main, and lat­er suc­ceed­ed him.

He al­so served as mu­sic di­rect­or at the Bar­füsser-Kir­che (Bare­foot Fri­ars’ Church), and taught sing­ing at the lo­cal Gym­na­si­um.
