König stu­died un­der Ge­org Phi­lipp Tel­e­mann at the St. Ka­tha­rin­en­kir­che (St. Ca­ther­ine’s Church) in Frank­furt am Main, and lat­er suc­ceed­ed him.

He al­so served as mu­sic di­rect­or at the Bar­füss­er-Kir­che (Bare­foot Fri­ars’ Church), and taught sing­ing at the lo­cal Gym­na­si­um.
