Biography

Thomas was the son of Tho­mas Jex-Blake of Burn­well, Eng­land, and hus­band of Hen­ri­et­ta Cor­de­ry (mar­ried 1857).

He was edu­cat­ed at Rug­by School, War­wick­shire, and Uni­vers­ity Col­lege, Ox­ford (BA in first class 1855, DD 1873).

He was a some time Fel­low of Queen’s Col­lege, Ox­ford; As­sist­ant Mas­ter at Rug­by (1858–68); Prin­ci­pal of Chel­ten­ham Col­lege (1868–74); Head Mas­ter of Rug­by (1874–87); rec­tor of Ave­church, Red­ditch (1887); and dean of Wells (1891).
