Biography

Helmore was edu­cat­ed at Mag­da­len Col­lege, Oxf­ord (BA 1840, MA 1845).

He was or­dained in the Ang­li­can church and be­came vice-prin­ci­pal and pre­cen­tor at St. Mark’s Col­lege, Chel­sea, where he served 35 years. In 1846, he was ap­point­ed mas­ter of the cho­ris­ters in the Cha­pel Royal, St. James, where Ar­thur Sul­li­van was one of his pu­pils.
