Heinlein’s first training came from a local musician who taught him to play the keyboard and wind instruments. He went on to study in Linz, Austria; Munich, Germany, and in Italy (1646).
He was appointed Rathsmusikus in Nuremburg in 1650, organist at St. Ägydien in 1655, Kapellmeister at the Church of Our Lady in 1656, and organist at St. Sebald’s Cathedral in 1656.
Heinlein produced six books of mourning and funeral hymns, and contributed tunes to other collections.
