Florence was the grand­daugh­ter of phi­lan­thro­pist and abo­li­tion­ist Tho­mas Earle, and daugh­ter of George Hus­sey Earle, Sr. and Fran­ces El­len Van Leer. She was a well known po­et in the late 19th Cen­tu­ry.
