Died: October 6, 1918, Brook­lyn, New York.

Buried: Lake View Ce­me­te­ry, Cleve­land, Ohio.

Biography

Chase was the son of Man­ly Chase and He­len Aman­da Clark, and hus­band of Blanche Wil­der (or­gan­ist at the Edge­wood Re­formed Church, Brook­lyn).

He orig­in­al­ly worked for the Stan­dard Oil Com­pa­ny in Cleve­land, Ohio. How­ev­er, he went blind around age 30, and moved to Brook­lyn, New York about 1890.

In Brook­lyn, he was te­nor so­lo­ist at the Old First Re­formed Church, Se­venth Ave­nue and Car­roll Street, for 22 years. He al­so sang at con­certs, and was known as the blind ten­or of Brook­lyn.

In addition, Chase com­posed an­thems, and for a long time, was mu­si­cal di­rec­tor of the Bo­rough Park Cho­ral So­ci­ety.
