Lyrics

There’ll be no night in the New Jerusalem,
No darkness to shadow the day;
No sun nor moon, for the Lamb of God is light,
And His glory passeth not away;
There’ll be no death, neither sorrow, grief nor pain,
The righteous shall dwell with Him there,
And sing His praises and glorify His name,
In the New Jerusalem so fair.

A river flows in that city of the Lamb,
A fountain of life for the soul;
And whosoe’er is athirst may come and drink,
Where those crystal waters gently roll;
When Jesus died on the cross of Calvary,
Sin’s burdens of sorrow to bear,
He conquered death, and He opened wide the gates
To the New Jerusalem so fair.

Some day the hosts of the dead who sleep shall rise,
And gather, when trumpets shall sound,
For Judgment Day when the Book shall be unsealed,
And the record of the ages found;
Then grant, O Lord, the recording angel finds
Our names have been all written there;
With Jesus then we will dwell forevermore,
In the New Jerusalem so fair.
