I am the Lord, I change not. Malachi 3:6
Words: Adapted from the daily hymn for the midday office of Sext in the Roman Breviary and in the Benedictine Rite (Rector Potens, Verax Deus).
Thou who canst never change nor fail,
Guiding the hours as they roll by,
Brightening with beams the morning pale
And glowing warm in the midday sky.
Quench Thou the fire of hate and strife,
The wasting fever of the heart;
From perils guard our feeble life
And to our souls Thy peace impart.
Grant this, O Father, only Son,
And Holy Spirit, God of grace,
To whom all glory, Three in One,
Be giv’n in every time and place.
