A Roman centurion sought out the Lord:
My servant is suffering, but just give the word!
For I have authority; you have it, too.
I know he’ll be well with a blessing from you.

Then Jesus responded to those who were near,
There’s not, in God’s people, the faith I’ve found here.
And someday God’s kingdom will bring a surprise
With outsiders in and the heirs left outside.

The Lord sent him home and it soon was revealed
That just at that moment, the servant was healed.
That outsider saw it; may we see it, too:
That Christ has the power to make our lives new.
