I have called you friends. John 15:15
Words: J. L. Remsen, in Songs of Love and Praise No. 4, edited by John R. Sweney, Henry L. Gilmour & J. Howard Entwisle (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania & Chicago, Illinois: John J. Hood, 1897), number 105.
If you know Remsen’s full name, or where to get a good photo of him (head-and-shoulders, at least 200×300 pixels), would you ?
Jesus is a loving Savior,
He will peace and pardon give;
If you long for free salvation,
Only look to Him and live.
He will save you, He will save you,
Save you by His love and power;
He is waiting to receive you,
He is willing, doubt no more.
Earthly friends may oft forsake you,
In your time of greatest need,
But there’s One who’ll never leave you,
One who is a friend indeed.
When your path seems dark and dreary,
And your lot so hard to bear,
Only trust your loving Savior;
He will every burden share.
When our warfare here is ended,
When we reach that peaceful shore,
Then we’ll praise our dear Redeemer,
Praise Him there forevermore.
