He who once suffered now reigneth a king,
High on His Father’s throne;
Pow’r and dominion are given to Him,
Earth shall be His alone.
Vainly the wicked rebel at His sway,
Own not His laws and refuse to obey,
They shall be turned from His presence away,
When He shall claim His own.

Refrain

Jesus is king, Messiah is king!
Gladly our tribute of praises we bring,
Blessèd the people who trust in His name,
Jesus our Lord is king!

Ye who are burdened and long for release,
Yield to the King today!
Love is His law, and His kingdom is peace,
Blessings are in His sway.
Christ, our Redeemer, we worship Thee here,
Praise Thee rejoicing and serve Thee with fear,
Soon may Thy glorious kingdom appear,
Here on the earth, we pray!
