Gentle, holy Je­sus,
Savior meek and mild,
Thou who once wast fa­shioned
Like a lit­tle child;

And in grace and meek­ness
Up to man­hood grew
Sharing hu­man weak­ness,
Human sor­row, too:

In Thy word so ho­ly,
Savior, we can see,
That of us Thou say­est,
Let them come to Me.

Glad we come! and ren­der
All we have to give:
While our hearts are ten­der,
Help us, Lord, to live.

Like Thy young dis­ci­ples,
That the world may see
We are taught by Je­sus,
And have learned of Thee.

May we co­py close­ly
Him we so much love,
Till we bear His like­ness,
Perfected above.
