Lyrics

The fading day adorns the west
And calls our waiting world to rest;
Thou Lord of light and all we know,
Thy calm and peace on us bestow.

O Lord, as silent shadows fall,
Thy loving-kindness shield us all;
And for Thy children near and far
Set out o’er each a golden star.

Of Thy protecting hand aware,
May all in sleep invite Thy care;
And, strength renewed and darkness gone,
Behold with joy the light of dawn.
