In this dark, dread hour of mid­night,
May we hear Thee at the gate.

Come, then come, our king and Sav­ior,
To this earth once more re­turn;
Unto Thee our pray­er we’re rais­ing,
And for Thee our spi­rits yearn.
Come, and claim Thy blood-bought pur­chase,
End the rule of self and sin;
Come in all Thy grace and glo­ry;
Let Thy bless­èd reign be­gin!
