Lyrics

Across the ocean wide,
That sweeps the Orient strand,
There heathen night abides,
Tho’ beauteous is the land;
And human hearts are there,
And human need is great:
To save them from despair,
Why will you longer wait?

Refrain

Go, bear to them the news,
No longer make excuse;
The Lord’s command obey,
Go work, go work today.
Go, seek to save the lost,
Nor wait to count the cost;
The Master of the vineyard
Will your toil repay.

In this, our land so fair,
By heathen foot untrod,
Where point the spires in air,
’Neath which we worship God,
Are souls from Christ astray,
Are eyes with weeping dim;
Go, search for them today,
And lead them back to Him.

Refrain

There is so much to do,
Abroad, and here at home;
The Lord hath need of you
To help His kingdom come;
To work, to give, to pray,
To labor, not in vain,
To bring that glorious day,
When He shall come again.
