And put your ar­mor on;
The foe is press­ing in on ev­ery side
For bat­tle fierce and long;
The cla­ri­on call is ring­ing loud and strong
For sold­iers brave and true;

Satan’s hosts pur­sue.

Awake, O Church of Christ, awake,
And back­ward hurl the foe;
The fight is on, the con­flict has be­gun,
And on­ward we must go;
Press for­ward in the name of Christ our king,
To shout the vic­tor’s song;
Defying Sa­tan’s migh­ty hosts,
For Christ march on.

Awake, O Church of Christ, awake,
The bat­tle soon shall cease;
When Christ, our migh­ty lead­er, shall ap­pear,
And bring en­dur­ing peace;
The pow’rs of dark­ness then shall be cast out,
Confusion mark their way;
So for­ward, sol­diers of the cross,
To win the day.
