Words: H. Aus­tin Dob­son wrote this hymn for the 1890 mar­riage of Hen­ry Ne­ville Glad­stone (son of Bri­tish Prime Min­is­ter Will­iam Glad­stone) and Maud Er­nest­ine Ren­del. It was first sung at their wed­ding in St. George’s Church, Han­over Square, Lon­don.

Ordained the wo­man for the man,
Look down, O Lord, on these who now
