According to Julian, the two hymns shown below, by one J. Young, appeared in the American Baptist Psalmist of 1843. In The Evangelical Hymnal (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania: The Evangelical Publishing House, 1921), the author of O for a Shout of Joy is also shown as J. Young, which the index expands to Rev. Jacob Young (1829-1895).
If correct, Young was only 14 years old when the Psalmist was published.
