Biography

York was edu­cat­ed at Ca­li­for­nia Bap­tist Uni­ver­si­ty (BA) and New Or­leans Bap­tist Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry (MCM, DMA).

He served as min­is­ter of mu­sic at church­es in Ca­li­for­nia and Ari­zo­na, and 1984–1995, on the Bap­tist Sun­day School Board (now Life­Way Chris­tian Re­sourc­es), Nash­ville, Ten­nes­see.

In 1998, he be­came As­so­ci­ate Pro­fess­or of Chris­tian Min­is­try and Church Mu­sic at Baylor Uni­ver­si­ty, Wa­co, Tex­as, on the fa­cul­ties of both the School of Mu­sic and the George W. Tru­ett Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry.
