Biography

Wright was born to Eng­lish Christ­ian par­ents in Lis­bon.

He re­turned to Eng­land to work in bu­si­ness, but af­ter help­ing Dwight Moo­dy in evan­gel­ism cam­paigns in 1874 and 1875, he ab­an­doned his plans for a bu­si­ness ca­reer.

He be­came an ev­an­gel­ist in Eng­land and Scot­land, and re­turned to Por­tu­gal sev­er­al times for evan­gel­ism meet­ings.

Works

He wrote or trans­lat­ed ov­er 60 hymns in the Bra­zil­ian Bap­tist hym­nal Can­tor Cris­tão (Chris­tian Sing­er).
