Biography

Emily was the daughter of John Devine and Sarah Lees. Her father was from Ireland, and her mother from England. Note: Some sources give her father’s name as Divine, but his tombstone clearly shows Devine.

Emily married Methodist minister John G. Wilson, an English immigrant.

John was District Superintendent of the Methodist Philadelphia Conference, and pastor of the Wharton Memorial Methodist Church in Philadelphia.

The couple had no children, and John died in 1933. In 1935 and 1940, Emily was living in the Methodist Episcopal Home for the Aged in Philadelphia.
