Wellesley at­tend­ed and lat­er taught at Dub­lin Un­i­ver­si­ty. His son be­came the first Duke of Well­ing­ton, and he him­self held the ti­tle of the Earl of Morn­ington. The fam­i­ly name was changed to Well­es­ley in 1798. He com­posed Chant in E, from which the tune Morn­ing­ton is ar­ranged.
