Born: February 14, 1933, Dallas, Texas.
Charles was the son of Charles Haizlip Webb and Marion Gilker, and husband of Kenda McGibbon (married 1958).
He attended Southern Methodist University (AB & MM, 1955) and Indiana University (IU) (DM 1964).
He served as artistic director of the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir (1967–80), and as dean of IU’s Jacobs School of Music (1973–97).
In 1989, he received the Governor’s Award for the Arts from Indiana governor Evan Bayh.
