Watt became a Presbyterian minister in 1896. He served in Turriff, Aberdeenshire (1897) and Alloa (1901). In World War I, he was a chaplain to Britain’s Gordon Highlanders and Black Watch. After the war, he was a minister at Glasgow Cathedral (1923-44). His works include:
