Von Christierson was ed­u­cat­ed at Stan­ford Un­i­ver­si­ty (BA 1923) and San Fran­cis­co The­o­lo­gi­cal Sem­in­a­ry (BD 1929). He served 7di­rect­or at the First Pres­by­ter­i­an Church, San Lu­is Obis­po, Cal­i­for­nia, and pas­tor at Cal­va­ry Pres­by­ter­i­an Church, Ci­trus Heights, Cal­i­for­nia, and pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church, North Hollywood, California. In 1983, he be­came a Fel­low of the Hymn So­ci­e­ty. His works in­clude:
