Turner re­ceived a class­ic­al ed­u­ca­tion, and for ma­ny years ran a board­ing school at Hem­el Hemp­stead, but in 1741 he be­came pastor of the Bap­tist church in Read­ing. He moved to Ab­ing­don in 1748, and pas­tored the Bap­tist church there un­til his death. He prob­ab­ly re­ceived the hon­o­ra­ry de­gree of MA from the Bap­tist Coll­ege in Pro­vi­dence, Rhode Is­land. His works in­clude:
