Biography

Son of an Ar­my of­fi­cer, Tur­ton was edu­cat­ed at Clif­ton Col­lege, Bris­tol, and the Roy­al Mi­li­ta­ry Aca­de­my. He was com­mis­sioned in 1876 as a Roy­al En­gin­eer lieu­ten­ant, and re­tired in 1905.
