Biography

Turney gra­du­at­ed from Ma­di­son Uni­ver­si­ty in New York, and al­so earned a Doc­tor of Di­vi­ni­ty de­gree.

He was suc­cess­ive­ly pas­tor at Hart­ford and Gran­ville, Ohio (1842–47); Pro­fess­or of Bib­li­cal Cri­ti­cism, Ma­di­son Uni­ver­si­ty (1850); and Pro­fess­or of Bib­li­cal Li­te­r­ature at Fair­mount Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry, Cin­cin­na­ti, Ohio (1853–58). He al­so taught in Wash­ing­ton, DC.
