Died: September 11, 1940, at his summer cottage near Holland, Michigan.
Buried: Graceland Mausoleum, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Mel was the son of William Trotter and Emily J. Lorch, and husband of Lottie M. Fisher.
He was brought to Christ by Harry Monroe of the Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, Illinois.
He went on to establish and direct the City Rescue Mission in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for over 40 years, and also founded more than 67 city missions in the United States.
He was ordained a Presbyterian minister in 1905.
