Died: Sep­tem­ber 11, 1940, at his sum­mer cot­tage near Holl­and, Mi­chi­gan.

Buried: Grace­land Mau­so­le­um, Grand Ra­pids, Mi­chi­gan.

Biography

Mel was the son of Will­iam Trott­er and Em­i­ly J. Lorch, and hus­band of Lot­tie M. Fish­er.

He was brought to Christ by Har­ry Mon­roe of the Pa­ci­fic Gar­den Mis­sion in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois.

He went on to es­tab­lish and di­rect the Ci­ty Res­cue Mis­sion in Grand Ra­pids, Mi­chi­gan, for over 40 years, and al­so found­ed more than 67 ci­ty mis­sions in the Unit­ed States.

He was or­dained a Pres­by­te­ri­an min­is­ter in 1905.
