Educated at Char­ter­house and other schools, Trit­ton was for over four de­cades a part­ner in the bank­ing house of Barc­lay, Be­van, Trit­ton & Com­pa­ny, Lom­bard Street. He was als­o for ma­ny years trea­sur­er of the Bap­tist For­eign Mis­sion­a­ry So­ci­e­ty, and a num­ber of other phil­an­throp­ic and re­li­gious ins­ti­tu­tions.
