Biography

Trend was edu­cat­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Giess­en, Germany. Ini­tial­ly, he served as min­is­ter of the Bridg­water Bap­tist Church in So­mer­set, re­sign­ing in 1853. He was or­dained in the Church of Eng­land in 1854, and was for some time Min­is­ter of the Do­na­tive of Dur­leigh, So­mer­set.

He con­trib­ut­ed sev­er­al trans­la­tions from the La­tin, and orig­in­al hymns, to a hym­nal by his son, John B. Trend, and oth­er col­lect­ions.

The Uni­ver­si­ty of Gies­sen award­ed him the de­gree of Doc­tor of Phi­lo­so­phy and Li­te­ra­ture by in 1860.
