Son of Arad Towne (a vocal music teacher) & Tryphenia McCloud, Thomas was a doctor, teacher & composer. At one time he belonged to the Continentals singing group. One of his most popular songs was the 1865 Old Abe the Battle Eagle. He married Isabella (Belle) Electa Kellogg, and had at least two sons. His works include:
