Sherm Tidwell

July 1, 1877, Alabama, probably in Marion County, where he lived most, if not all, of his life.

February 5, 1975, Marion, Alabama.

Mountain Home Cemetery, Bear Creek, Alabama.

Tidwell’s parents were Scion Meter Tidwell and Ella M. Mullins Tidwell. He contributed to the Vaughan and later the Stamps Baxter publishers. In his days, shape note singing schools and singing conventions were common and popular events throughout northwest Alabama, and Tidwell is remembered in that region both as a song writer and a song leader.
