Thayer’s tune As­chaf­fenb­urg was pub­lished in Bos­ton, Mas­sa­chu­setts, in 1895.

We spe­cu­late he might be Ar­thur Wil­der Thay­er (1857–1934), a com­pos­er, con­duc­tor, sing­ing teach­er, or­ganist and lec­tur­er who is bur­ied in Ded­ham, Mas­sa­chu­setts.
