For about 40 years, Swaine was a dea­con of the Con­gre­ga­tion­al Cra­ven Cha­pel un­der the pas­tor­ate of Dr. Leif­child and others; a di­rect­or of the Lon­don Mis­sion­ary So­cie­ty; and found­er and chair­man of the Pas­tors’ In­sur­ance Aid So­cie­ty.
