Emigrating to Amer­i­ca at age 20, Sund­quist at­tend­ed Knox Coll­ege, Gales­burg, Il­li­nois, and the Chi­ca­go The­o­lo­gic­al Sem­in­a­ry. He pas­tored as the Co­ve­nant Church in Gales­burg (1891-7), then at First Co­ve­nant Church, St. Paul, Min­ne­so­ta, un­til 1905. He ed­it­ed the Swed­ish news­pa­per Veck­o­bla­det for five years, then moved to Wash­ing­ton af­ter de­vel­op­ing health prob­lems. He raised ap­ples there, and taught Sun­day School at the First Pres­by­ter­i­an Church in Ya­ki­ma. His works in­clude:
