Stults’ hymn Hark the Sound was written in 1897, and published in Danville, Pennsylvania, in 1898.
Wikipedia and Findagrave both record a composer named Robert Morrison Stults, with a lifespan of 1861–1933. If the 1923 death year for the R. M. Stults in the Hymnary is a typo for 1923, R. M. Stults and Robert Morrison Stults are likely the same person.
Findgrave gives its source for the 1933 date as burial date Mar 27, 1933…source: Parish Register, Grace Episcopal Church, Mount Airy (Philadelphia), Pa., page 453.
